RHOBH’s Annemarie Wiley responds to the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ diss. Plus, she throws shade at production and the S13 esophagus drama.
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills newbie Annemarie Wiley isn’t receiving the warm welcome to Bravo that she was probably expecting from both fans and her fellow Beverly Hills Housewives.
The 40-year-old Bravo rookie has been feeling the heat on RHOBH and on social media due to her esophagus-gate drama with Sutton Stracke.
Annemarie came in hot when she joined the season 13 cast of RHOBH. Almost immediately, Annemarie went after Sutton and her esophagus issues. At first, Annemarie mocked Sutton’s condition and called it BS.
In fact, the RHOBH newbie made it seem that Sutton was over-dramatizing the seriousness of her esophagus issues.
“Narrow esophagus. That’s that’s a symptom of something. That’s not a medical diagnosis. If you have, like, a stricture in your esophagus, all you do is chew your food more. If you really have a problem, you go get treatment for that,” the RHOBH newbie told Sutton.
Sutton retorted: “You’re not my doctor. … Why am I having a doctor’s appointment right now?”
Several Bravo doctors, including Dr. Nicole Martin of RHOM and Dr. Tiffany Moon of RHOD, slammed Annemarie for “weaponizing the medical profession” and “medical gaslighting.”
More recently, RHOBH star Crystal Minkoff called out Annemarie’s continued obsession with Sutton’s very real medical issue concerning her esophagus.
After the January 17 episode of RHOBH, the American Society of Anestiogolists went after Annemarie for calling herself a doctor despite being a nurse anesthetist.
The ASA’s Instagram shared a post detailing the difference between a nurse anesthetist and an anesthesiologist.
In the caption, the ASA wrote: “The Real Housewives know a fake. Anesthesiologists are medical doctors with more than 12 years of higher education and up to 16,000 hours of clinical training. Title misappropriation has no place in health care.”
After the ASA’s Instagram post went viral on social media, Annemarie took to her Instagram Story to clap back at the diss and also address the drama on RHOBH.
To start, Annemarie Wiley addressed the ASA’s post and accused Crystal of coming for her career to give herself a storyline.
The RHOBH newbie wrote:
“I do not condone the ASA’s defamation campaign.
I am a CRNA, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. I am extremely proud of my profession. I will not be accused of title misappropriation because a castmate needed a storyline on a reality TV show. This is my real life and my career.
I am not an Anesthesiologist, nor have I ever claimed to be one. I have immense respect for physician anesthesiologists, and I ask that the ASA and other Anesthesiologists show respect to CRNAs as well.
This type of unhealthy discourse only causes friction and professional division. Political issues exist between physician anesthesiologists and CRNAs, which explains their current attack on me and the CRNA profession.
Our goal as anesthesia providers should always be working together in order to best serve our patients, not competing with one another. My aim is to educate the public on who CRNAs are and what we do in providing the highest quality of anesthesia care to those we serve.”
Then Annemarie addressed the esophagus storyline, noting that she “hates” that storyline just as much as fans.
She also accuses RHOBH producers of intentionally “dragging out” the storyline in an “unauthentic” way.
“The esophagus storyline was not funny. Watching the show back now, I hate that storyline just as much as everyone else. I would be mad at myself, too. It was a line of questioning I should never have started- and for that, I sincerely apologize. That storyline was unauthentically dragged on for far too long, and I have been dragged through the mud in the process. I just want to highlight the “Real” in Reality TV,” she wrote.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
