Kenya Moore gets a little bit shady when discussing the impact OG NeNe Leakes had on the RHOA franchise during her time on the show.
It’s no secret that the Real Housewives of Atlanta wouldn’t be here today without NeNe Leakes. Even NeNe’s nemesis and longtime RHOA co-star, Kenya Moore, can admit that.
Kenya recently sat down to chat with former RHOA producer Carlos King on his Reality With the King podcast, where she admitted to missing NeNe on the show despite their past issues.
The former Miss USA pageant winner says NeNe had an undeniable impact on RHOA and should return to the franchise if she wants to do so.
Kenya said:
“If I’m being honest, yeah. She is pro; she is a force all her own. You can’t take that away from her. That’s one thing about me. I am never going to not give you your flowers, and I’m never going to discount what you contributed to any space that you’re in. She was a major force multiplier, as you like to say, of the real housewives. And you can’t, you can’t ever erase that from her.”
She then quipped:
“She built the house, but it got foreclosed on.”
When Carlos King asked: “I mean, well, who took over the deed? She didn’t pay the bills. Who took over the deed?” Kenya laughed without ever answering the question.
The Bravolebrity went on to further shade NeNe, noting that NeNe had plenty of seasons where she had horrible storylines but still got spinoff shows. Kenya takes issues with the fact she’s always brought such great storylines to the show but was always denied spinoff shows, even at the height of her popularity.
“I feel like I’m akin to Kyle [Richards]. Like Kyle, I’ve always had [a] great story. This year, not so much. You know, not so much. But at the same time, NeNe has had seasons where she was not giving you [a] great story, but that does not mean that she was not still the star of that show,” Kenya explained.
She continued: “I really just that I really took umbrage to that. I still do because I think it’s a mistake. I think it’s a mistake. That is a message to me. The message is maybe, you know, like you said, I don’t feel that my time on this show has been as valued as it should have been, as it should be, was what, where are my spinoffs?”
“When I was at the height, height of my time on this show, I wanted a spinoff with my child having a baby, and I was denied that,” the Bravoleb added.
Speaking of getting married, Kenya also noted that she was 100% punished by production for getting married to estranged husband Marc Daly off-camera.
“Of course. Is that a secret? They don’t like that. And listen, I understand both sides. I’m a smart girl. I understand both sides. We have invested all this time in you. Your storyline from the beginning is that you wanted to be married and you wanted to have a baby. But when I tell you on my side, why I can’t have a husband by bringing him on this show, because we all see how that turns out season after season. If I bring a man on this show, it’s like the kiss of death,” Kenya confessed.
RHOA airs on Sundays at 8 pm on Bravo.
