Tennis legend Martina Navratilova has been diagnosed with stage one throat and breast cancer after having a swollen lymph node in her neck, which turned out to be cancerous. At the time, a mass was also found in her breast. Martina's spokesperson told [PEOPLE](https://people.com/health/rhom-julia-lemigova-says-we-will-fight-this-after-wife-martina-navratilovas-cancer-diagnoses/), *"The cancer type is HPV, and this particular type responds really well to treatment,"* adding that both cancers are in their *"early stages."* *“This double whammy is serious but still fixable, and I’m hoping for a favorable outcome. It’s going to stink for a while, but I’ll fight with all I have got.”* Martina explained in a statement to *The Sunday Times*, noting that she will begin treatment next week. This is the second time Martina has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Thirteen years ago, Martina was first diagnosed with breast cancer. She was ultimately declared cancer free in 2010.
