Source Says RHOD Cast Was ‘Surprised, But Relieved’ By Bravo’s Decision To Put Franchise on Indefinite Hiatus

Re-Boot RHOD

For the best?

It turns out fans weren’t the only ones shocked by Bravo’s decision to put the Real Housewives of Dallas franchise on permanent hiatus ahead of season 6.

A source tells Entertainment Tonight that the RHOD cast was “surprised, but relieved” about the network’s decision to press pause on the franchise.

“It got so toxic,” the source says of the end of season 5.

Before Bravo’s announcement rumors circulated on Instagram that Lizzy Savetsky, Madelaine Lam, and Mahisha Dellinger would be joining the season 6 cast.

The source notes that all three women were still in the casting process but were contenders to appear on the show. The three women even filmed test footage with some of the returning season 5 cast members, but “it wasn’t working.”

“They just couldn’t find the right mix that made sense,” the source explains. The source adds that production was struggling to figure out casting and which season 5 cast members should return.

“D’Andra [Simmons] and Tiffany [Moon] don’t talk to Stephanie [Hollman] or Kameron [Westcott],” the source reveals. “It would’ve been hard to make any relationship between those four feel organic, especially with everything that happened between Tiffany and Kameron after the reunion.”

In a statement on Tuesday, August 17, Bravo said, “There are currently no plans to bring The Real Housewives of Dallas back next year, and beyond that nothing official has been decided.”
